Young Girl Pelts Politician With Water Balloon, Draws Praise From Yankees – The Conservative

A viral video that featured 10-year-old Alexa Cardona perfectly hitting a local New York politician on the back of his head with a water balloon during a Fourth of July parade has unexpectedly earned her a chance to attend a Yankees game this Tuesday. Here, she further amazed the professionals with her exceptional throwing skills.

Hailing from Franklin Square, New York, Cardona is a promising fifth-grader. She had the opportunity to join the Yankees during their batting practice, a visit orchestrated largely due to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s good-natured response to being the water balloon recipient. He was targeted by Cardona from an impressive distance of about 100 feet. The video documenting this event has now been watched more than 40 million times on various social media platforms.

Having seen the clip, Harrison Bader, the center fielder for the Yankees, queried Blakeman, “That was you?” He confessed a common misunderstanding that might account for the video’s immense popularity on the internet, stating, “I thought it was Mike Pence.”

Upon viewing the video on a mobile device, Bader burst into laughter at the Bronx stadium. He concurred that Blakeman handled the water balloon strike, which was captured on camera, “like a man.”

“That was you? Good throw,” Bader said to Cardona as he exchanged a high-five with her on the field on Tuesday.

“Where’d you learn that?” Bader inquired from the young girl, adding, “You play softball? Very impressive.”

“Everybody thought that was Pence,” Blakeman, who shares a similar white-gray hair color with the former vice president, confirmed to Bader. “That was me that got hit.”

The Yankees would have benefited from an additional pitcher. New York lost Tuesday’s match to Tampa Bay with a score of 5-2.
