A White House official confirmed the call. Harris directly told Trump she was grateful he was safe. The conversation was described as brief and cordial.
Later, Harris spoke about it at the National Association of Black Journalists event. She explained she checked on Trump’s well-being.
She told the audience there’s no room for political violence in America. Harris emphasized her focus on protecting democracy.
Her comments highlighted the importance of healthy debates, not violence. The call followed a week after the candidates faced off in their first debate.
“No one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in last couple of months and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump… I’d say that’s pretty strong evidence that the left needs to tone down their rhetoric.”@JDVance logic game is *STRONG* pic.twitter.com/CRmuwcazrR
