Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, told Fox News Digital she would “be honored to serve” in a potential Trump administration.

She said she’d like to work in a role where she can make the biggest impact, especially in foreign policy or national security. Gabbard, a military veteran, has served two tours in the Middle East and is currently a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.
“I feel I can make the most impact in these areas of national security and foreign policy,” Gabbard said during a campaign event in Atlanta. She added that ending the “influence of the military industrial complex” and preventing World War III would be top priorities. War, she said, should always be a “last resort.” Gabbard also supported Trump’s plans to end the war in Ukraine.

Gabbard once served as the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2013 to 2016. She supported Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden in the past. But, she said her party shifted, which led her to move toward the GOP. Last month, she officially joined Trump’s transition team.
“There are a lot of people leaving the Democratic Party,” Gabbard said. “They see the same things I do – the party doesn’t stand for freedom or civil liberties… it doesn’t stand for peace.”
She has been vocal about her concerns regarding the current administration’s impact on global peace. On Monday, she criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to engage in diplomacy with U.S. adversaries.
“President Trump did what Obama, Biden, and Harris refused to do,” Gabbard said. “He went out and did the tough diplomatic work with adversaries.”
Gabbard believes peace is impossible without engaging with adversaries. She also accused Harris of escalating the war in Ukraine and being “flippant” about the risk of nuclear war.
“The longer this war goes on, the greater the risk of nuclear war and World War III,” Gabbard said. “It’s unacceptable that Harris and others continue to escalate the conflict.”
