In a shocking display of support for explicit content, the daughter of a former president faces backlash as she defends the inclusion of sexually explicit materials for children in school and public libraries.
Chelsea Clinton is facing intense criticism for advocating the availability of sexually explicit materials for children in school and public libraries, a stance that has many up in arms.
The daughter of former President Bill Clinton spoke out against banning such materials from schools, arguing that such actions would be harmful. Her comments were in response to an NBC News report discussing the prohibition of LGBT-themed children’s books with explicit content in libraries.
According to the American Library Association’s annual book censorship report, “1,269 challenges to more than 2,500 books in 2022” were documented, marking the highest number of attempted book bans since the association started tracking these efforts in 2001. This represents a 75% increase from 2021, which previously held the record. NBC reported that “of the 13 books that made the ALA’s list of ‘Most Challenged Books’ last year, seven titles — including three of the top four — were challenged for having LGBTQ content.”
Over 50% of the attempted book bans last year involved books with LGBTQ+ characters & themes. Books are a vital way that children, adolescents and adults learn about themselves and our world. Bans such as these are nothing but harmful: https://t.co/eblRSU7tZk

Chelsea Clinton argued that sexually explicit books targeting children are crucial for kids to learn about themselves. However, her Twitter thread advocating for these materials sparked a torrent of backlash.
Chad Felix Greene, a self-described gender dysphoria survivor, retorted:
“The photo on the article you’re quoting features a book with explicit illustrations of sex acts, a book about incest, one a sex story about two 10-year-old boys, one about a man raping and isolating a 12-year-old girl, one about a teen girl who seduces a man who kidnaps her…”
Another user commented, “From Gender queer: Anyone that thinks this is appropriate for a K-12 school library should have their hard drives searched for CP,” providing censored graphic examples.
Twitter user JW challenged Chelsea Clinton:
“A quick review of parent/teacher conferences shows your fav book has R & C rated illustrations, incest, Sen Scott Weiner style pederasty, Pedophile rape, & Lolita style Pedo fantasy where the teen girl is the aggressor. So are you unaware of the contents/theme of the book or did the apple not fall far from the Bill Clinton tree…is the exploitative Pedo sex theme right up your alley?”
User Julia US questioned, “These are the ‘banned books’ to which you refer, Chelsea—pornographic books which are being offered to children in schools across the USA. Why do you support the sexualization of our youth?” and provided more explicit photos.
Scott Akos asked Chelsea Clinton, “Would you show these books to your kids?”
Babylon Bee owner & CEO Seth Dillon satirically responded with, “Satan and I think kids should have access to porn,” sharing more explicit photos.
Vince Langman took a different approach, asking, “Speaking of harmful, care to comment on how harmful it was to the women your father sexually assaulted and your mother attacked?”
