The recent casting decision of Lashana Lynch as 007 in the iconic James Bond film series has ignited a debate that highlights the hypocrisy of the progressive left. Sir Roger Moore’s son, Geoffrey, believes that casting a woman in the role only leads to confusion among viewers, illustrating the left’s willingness to disregard tradition and confuse audiences for the sake of promoting an agenda.
As Daniel Craig steps down from his role as James Bond, the franchise is considering a female lead for the iconic character. However, Geoffrey Moore, aged 57, strongly opposes this idea, suggesting that it would fundamentally change the essence of the movie series. In his view, Lashana Lynch‘s character, Nomi, could have been assigned a different number, such as 006, 008, or 009, maintaining the integrity of the James Bond character.
The decision to assign Nomi the 007 title in “No Time To Die” has been met with mixed reactions, with many people praising the franchise for embracing a female lead. Sir Roger Moore’s son, however, thinks that the move has only generated confusion among audiences. This attempt at progressive casting seemingly undermines the legacy of the James Bond series, which has been built on strong, male leads.
Geoffrey does not oppose female spy characters in general, stating that he would be more receptive to the idea if it were part of a different franchise. He cites Charlize Theron’s performance in “Atomic Blonde” as an example of a successful female-led spy movie. Nonetheless, he insists that “Ian Fleming’s Bond” should continue to be portrayed by a man.
Even Daniel Craig himself has expressed his belief that the James Bond role should not be played by a woman. Instead, he argues that the film industry should focus on creating better parts for women and actors of color. Craig’s sentiment is shared by other female actors, including Halle Berry, who starred in “Die Another Day.” Berry stated in a 2017 interview that changing Bond to a woman would be inappropriate given the history and source material of the series.
James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli echoed these sentiments in a 2019 interview on Good Morning Britain, she said, “We have to make movies about women and women’s stories, but we have to create female characters and not just for a gimmick turn a male character into a woman.”
She emphasized the need to create movies about women and their stories, rather than simply turning a male character into a woman for the sake of gimmicks. It’s evident that the casting of a female James Bond highlights the left’s hypocrisy and their eagerness to rewrite history to fit their agenda.
