She Woke Up From A Months Long Coma And Discovered Something Horrible About Her Boyfriend…

An Australian woman woke from a month-long coma to learn that her life had been entirely flipped upside down — and not because of her brain injury.

27-year-old Brie Duval had been living in Canada when she fell off a roof in a freak accident and was given just a 10 percent chance of survival.

Duval shared a story of the accident that caused her to be in a coma on her TikTok, mentioning that she fell off a retaining wall across a bar and suffered numerous injuries to her ribs, spine, and bones.

After waking up from the coma, she realized her fiance had left her for another woman. Duval woke up from her coma after three weeks and suffered temporary amnesia.

She didn’t remember much of her life, however, she started remembering bit by bit as she recovered.

One major detail in her life was having a fiance for the past four years, however, he was nowhere to be seen during her coma.

She was given her phone back by hospital staff and went to contact her partner, before finding out he’d blocked her on all social media, had moved in with someone else, and essentially ghosted her after her accident.

Duval explained:

“I was finally given my phone and my first thought was to call him and just see if he knew what happened. He hadn’t been to see me.

“So I opened my phone going to message him when a message pops up from this woman that says I am now with [partner’s name]. I have moved him out. He’s now living with me and my son, please do not contact him.

“I have not heard from him since I have been in hospital, he’s completely and utterly left me in the dust. So I don’t even have closure as to why this happened.”

“After four years, I was incredibly surprised. We were best friends, for years. I never thought in a million years this would happen,” Duval said of being ghosted while in a coma. “Especially at such an awful time in my life. I thought he was my soul mate, but I thought wrong.”

Her family couldn’t visit her in the hospital as her awful spill happened in year one of COVID-19 and Australia wasn’t letting people come and go from the country at the time. However, Duval is back with her family in Perth and has made a lot of progress in her recovery:

“I can now eat on my own and can now walk unassisted without a walking frame or wheelchair as I broke my back in the accident. I still have numbness from the waist down but have adapted my walking style so I can walk again.”

Brie remains dumbstruck that someone can be so horrible.

“I am still so incredibly hurt by his actions. I have no reason or closure as to why he did what he did. I just feel so hurt. I cannot explain the depth of the pain he has caused me. After four years, I was incredibly surprised. We were best friends for years. I never thought in a million years this would happen. Especially at such an awful time in my life. I thought he was my soul mate, but I thought wrong.”

A restaurant supervisor before her accident, she expects to return to work next year. In the meantime, Brie Duval also continues to share her experiences and answer questions about being in a coma, making her one of the truly unique personalities on TikTok.
