A large fight erupted on a riverfront dock in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday evening, seemingly over the docking of a pontoon boat, and according to the city’s mayor, several “reckless” individuals were detained.
The altercation between a collection of individuals and a man who seemed to be a dockworker was recorded on video around 7 p.m. by observers on a nearby boat at Riverfront Park.
The female capturing the video can be heard stating that a worker was moving a black pontoon boat that had docked after the apparent owners were informed they could not leave the boat in that location.
When the worker starts to move the boat by himself, a group of people come up and initiate an argument with the man, as seen in the video. The verbal disagreement then escalates to physical violence when an individual unexpectedly strikes the worker in the head.

Additional members of the group charge the worker and commence hitting and kicking him as he lies on the ground. Bystanders step in and start to pull the individuals away from the worker, who is then observed getting to his feet independently and walking along the dock.
Mayor Steven L. Reed reacted to the incident on Sunday through a social media post.
“Last night, the Montgomery Police Department acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job,” Reed penned. “Warrants have been signed and justice will be served.”
