Katy Perry Sells Entire Music Catalog for Massive Payout – The Conservative

Uncategorized

Katy Perry has transferred ownership of her music collection to Litmus Music, under the umbrella of The Carlyle Group, as verified by FOX Business.

The acquisition, disclosed on Monday, encompasses the five albums Perry produced with Capitol Records over the span of 2008 to 2020. Sources indicate the transaction is valued at approximately $225 million.

“Katy Perry is a creative visionary who has made a major impact across music, TV, film, and philanthropy. I’m so honored to be collaborating with her once more and to assist Litmus in overseeing her remarkable catalog,” expressed Dan McCarroll, the ex-president of Capitol Records and co-founder of Litmus, as cited in the official statement.

The records, “One of the Boys” (2008), “Teenage Dream” (2010), “Prism” (2013), “Witness” (2017), and “Smile” (2020), jointly feature 16 singles that have achieved multi-platinum status.

Hank Forsyth, CEO and co-founder of Litmus, remarked on Perry’s influence, stating her “songs are an essential part of the global cultural fabric. We are so grateful to be rejoining forces with a respected collaborator whose sincerity is evident in all her endeavors.”

This spring saw Perry gracing the stage at the crowning of King Charles III.

Having disrupted mainstream culture with earlier hits like “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold,” Perry appeared to prioritize other aspects of her life, such as starting a family with her fiancé Orlando Bloom and taking a judging seat on the revamped version of ABC’s “American Idol.”

Of late, some critiques Perry offered to participants on the show haven’t sat well with audiences, with many branding her as overly harsh.

She first became a part of the show in 2018, and it was recently revealed she’ll reprise her role for the 2024 season, sharing the judging panel with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

The artist behind “Firework” also launched a 2021 residency titled “Play” at Resorts World Las Vegas.

During a performance last summer, Perry hinted at upcoming releases. “Now if you can’t love me in my ‘Witness’ or ‘Smile’ era, then you can’t love me in my ‘KP6’ era,” she mentioned, as captured by fans on video.
