Hillary Clinton strongly defended Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she doesn’t need to clarify her policy positions in interviews. Clinton argued that Harris was facing a “double standard” from both voters and the media.

“She does not have to do it, Kara. I’m going to just cut to the chase,” Clinton said to journalist Kara Swisher on her podcast.

Clinton pointed out that Harris has clear policies available on her campaign website. She added, “Anybody who’s truly interested can go and read about them.” Clinton emphasized that Harris not only has policies but also detailed plans.

Clinton suggested the scrutiny on Harris stems from a double standard. “They’re still getting to know her, but also… ‘Am I really going to vote for a woman to be president and commander in chief?’” she said.

Clinton pointed specifically to White women voters as being part of this challenge. A clip of her comments was shared online by Grabien founder Tom Elliott.

As of Tuesday, Harris and her running mate Tim Walz had done 13 interviews since becoming the Democratic ticket. In contrast, Trump and JD Vance had granted 54 interviews in the same period. Harris has not held an official press conference since Biden exited the race.

Clinton also critiqued media coverage of Trump in another interview. On MSNBC, she told Rachel Maddow, “The press is still not able to cover Trump the way that they should.”

She emphasized that journalists should focus on Trump’s demagoguery and danger to the country. “Stick with it,” she urged.

Her comments followed a recent assassination attempt on Trump. On Sunday, suspect Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested near Trump’s golf course in Florida after allegedly pointing a rifle at him.

Routh had posted anti-Trump comments online, echoing sentiments from Biden and Harris. This attempt comes after a July incident where Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania.
