In a story that continues to expose the seedy underbelly of the rich and powerful, new revelations over the weekend brought to light another disgraceful event tied to the notorious Jeffrey Epstein saga, featuring none other than Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that sources alleged Epstein had used intimidation tactics against Gates after learning about the latter’s affair with a young Russian bridge player during Gates’ marriage to Melinda. In an unexpected entanglement of high-profile figures, the Russian woman, who was in her 20s when she met Gates around 2010, found herself receiving financial aid from Epstein for coding school three years later.
Fast forward to 2017, Epstein allegedly sent Gates an email requesting reimbursement for the coding school’s expenses. The inference here, according to those privy to the email, was that Epstein was ready to reveal their relationship if Gates cut off contact. As it happens, this email was sent around the time Epstein was trying, unsuccessfully, to persuade Gates to collaborate with JPMorgan Chase on a multibillion-dollar charitable fund.
The Gates camp denies any wrongdoing, stating, “Mr. Gates met with Epstein solely for philanthropic purposes. Epstein tried unsuccessfully to leverage a past relationship to threaten Mr. Gates.” This narrative strives to make Gates the victim, but let’s recall that Epstein was a convicted sex offender, charged in 2006 with sexual abuse of minors, some as young as 14. This was well-known when Gates agreed to those ‘philanthropic’ meetings.

Epstein’s criminal record didn’t stop there; he pleaded guilty to procuring a minor for prostitution in 2008, leading to a stint in a Florida jail and sex offender registration. Despite these convictions, Gates claims he only met Epstein a handful of times for philanthropy-related discussions, a mistake he now regrets. One must wonder, though, why a billionaire philanthropist of Gates’s standing would choose to align himself with a convicted sex offender in the first place.
In 2019, Epstein was back in the news after a Miami Herald exposé unearthed a web of women alleging victimization by Epstein. He was arrested for sex trafficking but died in jail awaiting trial, with the official cause of death being suicide. Yet, during all this, Gates had numerous scheduled meetings with Epstein, including meals at Epstein’s New York townhouse, and even flew on Epstein’s private plane. For such regrettable decisions, it seems like quite a bit of time spent in Epstein’s company.
The Russian bridge player, Mila Antonova, remains mostly silent on the matter, confirming that she met Gates but stating she was unaware of Epstein’s criminality at the time. She expressed disgust at Epstein and his actions, but her role in this dark chapter remains largely unknown.

Interestingly, Antonova, a software engineer, had established a bridge club in the United States after studying in Russia from 2000 to 2005. She reportedly met Gates at a bridge tournament in 2010 and enjoyed the same game that Gates himself loved. A 2010 video shows her talking about their encounter and joking about trying to “kick him with my leg.”
In 2013, Gates and Epstein reportedly met in France with a Nobel Peace Prize committee official. Later, in September 2014, they spent a significant portion of a day together in New York City, mingling with other billionaires. These interactions paint a picture of a relationship far more involved than Gates’ assertion of mere philanthropic meetings.
This saga casts a long, dark shadow over the reputations of the wealthy elite and continues to ask the public to examine the consequences of power, privilege, and a lack of personal responsibility.
