Trump Has Dropped Even MORE Clues About His Running Mate…

Amid growing speculation about who President Trump might select for his 2024 ticket if he secures the GOP nomination, Trump himself recently discussed his potential running mate.

During a Newsmax interview, Trump expressed that it’s “very unlikely” he would choose Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis as his running mate in 2024, stating that he’s “not looking to attack Republicans.”

Trump said, “No, I think that would be a very unlikely alliance. I’ve never thought of it. We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party.” A few weeks ago, he mentioned his interest in a running mate who is “respected,” has “common sense,” and possesses a conservative voice.

According to an unnamed Trump, adviser cited in a Washington Post report, the former president may select a running mate from one of three general categories: women, conservatives of color, or a trusted adviser. Tony Fabrizio, Trump’s lead pollster in 2016 and 2020, said, “Once you get past those two issues — loyalty and Trump going more with his gut — Trump has a lot of leeway in who he would pick.”

Fabrizio added that Trump could choose someone to balance the ticket in terms of gender, race, or ethnicity, mentioning options like Tim Scott in South Carolina, an Asian American in California, or a Hispanic person in Texas.

A new Washington Examiner report suggests four Republican women who could be high on Trump’s shortlist:

“South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and former Arizona journalist Kari Lake. Each of these women has gained recognition in the Republican Party for various reasons, making them potential strong contenders for Trump’s VP pick.”

One name not mentioned in the Washington Examiner report is Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, whose name has been circulating in the media. NBC’s Jonathan Allen reported that multiple individuals have discussed Greene’s “weighty ambitions,” as she has positioned herself as a prominent ally to House Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Steve Bannon, the host of the podcast “War Room” and an early political adviser to Trump, said:

“This is no shrinking violet, she’s ambitious — she’s not shy about that, nor should she be.” Bannon added, “She sees herself on the shortlist for Trump’s VP. Paraphrasing Cokie Roberts, when MTG looks in the mirror, she sees a potential president smiling back.”

Ultimately, the choice of Trump’s running mate will be critical in determining the direction of the Republican Party and the potential success of Trump’s 2024 campaign.
