On Monday, the Department of Justice released a ten-page pre-trial memorandum advocating for the detention of would-be assassin Ryan Wesley Routh, who attempted to kill former President Donald Trump.
Routh appeared in court later that day, where he was denied bail.
Routh was apprehended after trying to assassinate Trump on a Florida golf course on September 15, marking the second assassination attempt against the former president in two months.

It remains unclear how Routh learned about Trump’s golfing plans that Saturday, but the FBI indicated in their pre-trial report that he had been stalking Trump for two months prior to the attempt.
The Biden administration’s document was filed in the U.S. Southern District of Florida to support keeping Routh incarcerated until his trial. The memorandum included photographs of the weapon and ammunition Routh carried.
Notably, the DOJ shared an image of the rifle used in the West Palm Beach incident, which had its serial number scratched off, as reported by the FBI.
Additionally, the DOJ presented a mysterious reward letter, allegedly written by Routh months before the assassination attempt, which he had given to an unidentified friend.
The letter reads in part:
Dear World,
This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I am so sorry I failed you. I tried my best and gave all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job. And I will offer $150,00 to whomever can complete the job. Everyone across the globe from the youngest to the oldest knows that Trump is unfit to be anything, much less US president…
Here is a photo of the letter that was allegedly written by Routh months before the attempted assassination.
The DOJ posts would-be assassin Ryan Routh’s reward letter to anyone who would follow him and kill President Trump.
So, how is it that months ago Routh knew he would not be ‘successful’ in his mission to kill President Trump?
Here is the important section from page 7 of the DOJ report that makes no sense.
