The ex-boyfriend who allegedly stabbed his makeup artist ex-girlfriend 20 times is facing an attempted murder charge, the Los Angeles County District Attorney said.
Authorities detained 34-year-old Nick Pasqual at the U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, according to LA County District Attorney George Gascón. Pasqual is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend 35-year-old Allie Shehorn, a Hollywood makeup artist who has worked on films such as “Rebel Moon,” the “Mean Girls” reboot and “Babylon.”
Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehorn’s LA home around 4:30 a.m. May 23 and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the state. Shehorn had recently filed a restraining order against Pasqual, prosecutors said.
“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” Gascón said in a statement. “This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.”
In addition to attempted murder, Pasqual is facing first-degree residential burglary with person present and domestic violence-related charges. Prosecutors issued a warrant for his arrest on May 24. He faces up to life in prison if convicted. According to his Internet Movie Database page, Pasqual has played bit parts in movies and TV shows in his 15 years in Hollywood, including in a 2011 episode of “How I Met Your Mother” and the Zach Snyder-directed “Rebel Moon” which is reportedly where he met Shehorn.
As Law&Crime previously reported, Shehorn was recently moved out of the Intensive Care Unit and is recovering at the hospital, her friends wrote in a GoFundMe page.
Christine White, who has served as a mother-like figure to Shehorn — whose own mother passed away, according to her Facebook page — said in an interview with CW affiliate KTLA that she was in the home during the violent incident.
“I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened,” she told the outlet. “That wasn’t a pretty sight.”
Shehorn was reportedly slashed in the neck, arms and across her abdomen. One of the organizers of the GoFundMe, Jed Dornoff, said White saved Shehorn’s life.
“She is very brave and acted fast when she found Allie bleeding out,” Dornoff wrote.
Shehorn has done makeup in more than 70 released films and over 20 upcoming movies, per her IMDb page. While she remains at the hospital after undergoing at least three surgeries, her condition is improving as she is starting to eat food on her own and can speak, friends said.
“Allie is a remarkable person, full of warmth, kindness, and love. No one deserves to endure such a traumatic experience, especially someone as compassionate and caring as Allie,” wrote Emily MacDonald, another organizer of the GoFundMe which has raised nearly $100,000.
Dornoff said it was a surprise to him that the ex-boyfriend would turn violent.
“This person was a part of a lot of people’s life and seemed stable. I was there from the beginning when they met on the film set of REBEL MOON to many dinners and outings to when he asked her out and so on,” Dornoff wrote.
Pasqual is awaiting extradition back to California and will face a bond of more than $1 million, the DA’s office said.
