Customers of the renowned grocery store, Wegmans Food Markets, are advised to review their credit card records. This comes after the company’s representatives confirmed a probable double-charging incident for both in-store and online shoppers.
Company representatives revealed that credit card payments made on Aug. 16 at all of Wegmans’ 110+ locations nationwide were impacted.
The representatives clarified that transactions using EBT and debit cards with a PIN remained unaffected by this oversight, except if processed as credit upon the shopper’s choice.
Many customers expressed their dissatisfaction with Wegmans on various social platforms.
Jessica Figueroa mentioned in a Facebook post, “So if you shopped at Wegmans yesterday double-check your account. According to them there was a system-wide error that caused a double charge for many. I just noticed a duplicate charge on mine.”

Another individual encouraged fellow shoppers to “check your bank statements.”
Wegmans has recognized the problem and is currently coordinating with payment processors to rectify the double charges.
A representative from the company stated that customers can expect to see corrections for the erroneous charges in the forthcoming days, contingent on their respective bank or card issuer.
Wegmans officials acknowledged that the cause of this error remains uncertain.
