Town Takes Stand Against Gun Laws – Declares Itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary!

One thing that a lot of the gun hating lunatic Democrats don’t exactly understand is that this country isn’t all big cities. This great nation of ours is comprised of small towns where the heart of our nation is.

For example, the average person not really looking at it might think that the state of Michigan is just Detroit, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and a couple other medium sized cities. Hardly the case.

In fact, the bulk of the state of Michigan is comprised of small towns and rural locations. Towns where the nearest movie theater is an hour away. Towns where they take the first couple days of deer season off as a school holiday. Towns where the real people live.

You don’t have to be tall to stand out.

Just ask Holton Township, Michigan, which has declared itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary by passing a Second Amendment Resolution.

Muskegon County, which has 2,586 residents as of the 2020 Census, is about 200 miles northwest of Detroit.

According to the Daily Mail, the resolutions to proclaim itself a Second Amendment sanctuary and organize its militia were overwhelmingly carried.

According to WOOD-TV, Township Supervisor Alan Jager stated that town authorities intervened to protect people’s rights.

“Whether they’re trying to pass something where they’re taking your rights away without you having due process. And I want you to be able to have due process,” Jager said.

The motivation for the move was Michigan’s red flag statute, which allows a court to take away a person’s weapons if it can be proven that the person is a high-risk person who should not have them.

“All you had to do is go to the right court: you’re going to get the judge to do it,” Jager said.

The militia’s objective is not to monitor the township but to provide some security to gun owners.

“We’re not trying to skirt anything. We’re just trying to make it so you have a fighting chance if you ever go to court. They can’t just take your guns away because you belong to a militia like the United States government says we have a right to do,” Jager said.

According to a copy posted on, the resolution to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary commits “to oppose any efforts to unconstitutionally restrict” Second Amendment rights.

The resolution stated that the “Holton Township Board declares and confirms its intent to stand as a Sanctuary Township for Second Amendment rights and to oppose, within the limits of the Constitution of the United States and the Commonwealth of Michigan, any efforts to unconstitutionally restrict such rights.”

Reaching back to the language of the Founding Fathers the resolution declared, “We, the people of Holton Township, Michigan through this resolution, hereby declare our inalienable rights, our freedom and our Liberty as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.”

The township stated the need to join and promised to fight gun grabbers in an addition labeled the Militia Public Safety Act.

“Holton Township will not acknowledge any new laws that are associated with red flag laws, or any other infringement of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Holton Township will not acknowledge any new regulation that prohibits open carry or concealed carry,” the addendum said.
