A shocking incident at a Georgia elementary school leaves parents and the community outraged, as a substitute teacher is accused of committing a despicable act in front of young students.

The 30-year-old Georgia substitute teacher recently faced arrest after allegedly performing a shocking and inappropriate act in front of a classroom of seven- and eight-year-old students.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported that Amelia Ressler recorded herself committing this indecent act at Mt. Zion Elementary School, leaving many concerned about the potential long-term effects on the children.

The video, which Ressler reportedly distributed, eventually reached a member of the school community, who recognized the classroom and reported the incident. As a result, Georgia authorities are taking a firm stance against Ressler’s actions, charging her with child molestation. Each student in the second-grade classroom at the time corresponds to a separate charge. The sheriff’s office believes the charges may not be severe enough and has cautioned that they could be upgraded after further investigation.

According to authorities, Ressler filmed herself engaging in the inappropriate act in front of the second-grade class between 7:30 am and 2:30 pm on January 28, 2021. The exact timing is still being investigated. The 13-second video initially shows the young students before focusing on Ressler’s actions, later posted to Snapchat. The police now have possession of the original video.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office representative Ashley Hulsey told Fox 5 Atlanta, “It appears she was masturbating while the classroom was full of kids. We obtained video evidence because she videoed it herself and disseminated it, and we were able to get a hold of that evidence.”

The duration of Ressler’s employment with the Carroll County School District and whether she has previously engaged in similar actions in the classroom remains uncertain.

The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the school district’s quick response and their commitment to student safety, pledging to work closely with them throughout the investigation.

Now, investigators aim to assess the extent of trauma the children may have experienced due to the incident. Careful interviews will be conducted to determine any psychological damage.

Ashley Hulsey emphasized the importance of addressing the issue, stating: “It’s one of these things the kids are going through that they shouldn’t. The mental anguish that it’s causing these children and parents, that was our drive behind working this case, getting it down quickly, getting her to put in jail as quickly as possible. It’s disturbing. That’s what it is. Where she was sitting, it wasn’t like it was a closed desk and couldn’t look up and visually see what she was doing at the time.”
