The Golden State of California, once a beacon of dreams, now descends into a dystopia of escalating crime rates and unchecked homelessness under its liberal regime. This grim reality is leading even the most renowned celebrities, like “Happy Days” star Scott Baio, to relinquish their California homes, fleeing for safer, less compromised lands. Baio’s exit trails Mark Wahlberg‘s, highlighting an increasing trend of high-profile personalities disenchanted with their once beloved state’s decay, a grim reflection of the liberal policies that continue to undermine the region’s stability.
Once a cherished retreat, Baio’s elegant abode in Los Angeles’s Woodland Hills has now joined the state’s real estate market. This luxurious dwelling, secured for $1.85 million back in 2010, is projected to sell for a whopping $3.85 million, doubling his original investment despite the state’s deteriorating conditions.
Esteemed for his unapologetic conservative principles, Baio took to Twitter to express his concerns over Los Angeles’s transformation into an unsavory hub under the Democratic reign, led by Governor Gavin Newsome. He affirmed his yearning for a region inhabited by more like-minded conservatives, away from the increasingly unsettled environment of California.
Expressing his decision to flee, he tweeted, “After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally ‘exit stage right’ from California.” Citing the rampant homelessness and crime rates he said, “it brings down property value, makes things higher in price, and it’s just not a safe place anymore.”
Baio’s up-for-sale property, nestled in the gated sanctuary of Westchester County Estates, boasts 6,300 square feet of living space, complete with five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a dining room, a home office, and a grand curved staircase under towering ceilings. Once a sanctuary for Baio, the property’s outdoor amenities – including a pool, spa, and a no-build zone preserving the serenity of the location – now await another resident.
Mark Wahlberg recently made a swift exit from Los Angeles, parting with his residence for $55 million, taking a $30 million hit on his asking price. He sought prompt evacuation from the city, eager to embrace the promising business prospects in Las Vegas and aspire towards establishing a Hollywood-rivaling studio.
Celebrities and the affluent class are now hurrying out of California, confronted not only with the harrowing homelessness crisis, escalating crime, and natural disasters like wildfires and earthquakes, but also faced with an impending tax hike. Governor Newsome, under his Democratic reign, threatens to increase the tax burden on the wealthiest residents.
Slated to come into effect in 2026, the proposed tax law would levy an annual one percent tax on those with a net worth exceeding $50 million. Furthermore, billionaires would be subject to a 1.5 percent tax, presumably to funnel resources to the needy – another example of liberal policy’s unrelenting war on success. These oppressive measures only add to the reasons for the affluent and celebrities alike to seek refuge outside California’s borders.
