Muhammad Ali, in addition to being a great boxer, Ali was a lifelong activist who spoke out against racism. The undisputed heavyweight champion of 1968 imperiled his own career by turning down admission to the United States. “I ain’t got no quarrel with them Viet Cong,” he is credited with stating to the Army.
Now, in the present, his only son, Ali Jr., was asked to forecast how his late father would have reacted to the ongoing protests in the U.S. and other countries, as well as the Black Lives Matter movement, which is somewhat similar to the cause his father previously championed.
The New York Post had an exclusive talk with Ali Jr. to discuss his iconic father and BLM, on the fourth anniversary of his death, Ali Jr. claims that his father was recognized for having a significant impact on the struggle for racial equality. However, he is confident that his father would have been appalled by what people have been doing in the wake of George Floyd’s passing. The boxing GOAT, according to Ali Jr., might have even referred to the movement as “racist” and the protesters as “devils.”
In an interview with The Post, Muhammad Ali, Jr. discussed how he believes his father would have responded to the demonstrations that erupted after the killing of George Floyd.
“Don’t bust up s–t, don’t trash the place. You can peacefully protest. My father would have said, ‘They ain’t nothing but devils.’ My father said, ‘all lives matter.’ I don’t think he’d agree,” he stated to the reliable news source.
“I don’t think he’d agree [with the movement],” he added.
Instead, he said, “I think it’s racist,” as Muhammad Ali Jr. has a very strong view when it comes to the entire Black Lives Matter movement, and he is not in favor of the civil rights program.
“It’s not just black lives matter, white lives matter, Chinese lives matter, all lives matter, everybody’s life matters. God loves everyone — he never singled anyone out. Killing is wrong no matter who it is,” he said.
He even went so far as to side with police officers, which is a position in direct opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement, which urges police departments to rethink how they practice racial profiling and racial bias every day they are on the job.
Ali Jr. said, however, “The officer was wrong with killing that person, but people don’t realize there was more footage than what they showed. The guy resisted arrest, the officer was doing his job, but he used the wrong tactic,” when it came to George Floyd’s murder.
About terrorists of all colors and religions, Ali Jr. also had strong words to say. He said:
“They’re no different from Muslim terrorists. They should all get what they deserve. They’re f–king up businesses, beating up innocent people in the neighborhood, smashing up police stations and shops. They’re terrorists – they’re terrorizing the community. I agree with the peaceful protests, but the Antifa, they need to kill everyone in that thing. Black Lives Matter is not a peaceful protest. Antifa never wanted it peaceful. I would take them all out.”
