The Mega Millions jackpot has remained elusive for over three months, with no grand prize winners, yet this hasn’t stopped the lottery from creating a wave of winners and even forging new millionaires in the process.
Mega Millions revealed that fortunate players have struck the $1 million mark at least 62 times in the recent past, including several wins from last Friday’s drawing alone. In a remarkable winning streak, the lottery has witnessed over 36.6 million tickets claiming smaller prizes ranging from $2 million to $5 million across 31 drawings during this period.

Just this past Friday, nine lucky ticket-holders each secured the second-tier $1 million prize. In two of these cases, the winnings were even doubled to $2 million, thanks to a 2x multiplier, according to Mega Millions. This ongoing series of wins underscores the exciting opportunities that continue to be available to lottery enthusiasts, even when the headline-grabbing jackpot goes unclaimed.
On Aug. 1, a lucky Texan player cashed in on a 4x multiplier, seizing a $4 million second-tier prize. Just a few days earlier, another ticket holder in Pennsylvania landed a $5 million win.
These remarkable windfalls are part of a series of wins that have occurred during the approximately 16-week period stretching from the most recent jackpot win on April 18 to Tuesday evening’s drawing.
As of Monday night, the lottery’s grand prize had swelled to an eye-popping $1.55 billion pre-tax, with a one-time cash payout option valued at $757.2 million.
Notably, this staggering grand prize has been hovering above the $1 billion mark since late July, cementing its position as one of the most significant jackpots in lottery history and creating anticipation and excitement for players across the nation.
“It’s exciting to watch Mega Millions grow,” commented Gretchen Corbin, the CEO of the Georgia Lottery and the lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium, in an official statement. “As the jackpot climbs ever higher, we thank our players and retailers for their support, which benefits the many good causes funded by our participating lotteries.”
This surge in the Mega Millions jackpot is not only thrilling but has been accompanied by the emergence of numerous winners of smaller prizes.
For example, during the drawing for the $438 million jackpot on April 14, when a ticket matched all five white balls and the yellow one, two lucky individuals each bagged $1 million, according to the lottery. Additionally, 17 other people won windfalls of $10,000 each.
The Mega Millions jackpot’s odds have remained steady at almost 1 in 302.6 million for several years, while the odds for the $1 million Match 5 prize are about 1 in 12.6 million, as stated on the lottery’s website.
The current jaw-dropping jackpot of $1.55 billion has the chance to become the largest grand prize ever awarded by Mega Millions. As it stands now, the record is held by a $1.537 billion jackpot won in 2018, according to the lottery. This tantalizing prospect continues to ignite excitement and hope among lottery enthusiasts nationwide.
