The White House intended to profit from the suffering of families when it chose to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting with a video of Joe Biden making yet another call for more gun control.
The father of one of the girls killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on February 14, 2018, however, was not going to accept the political opportunism.
Ryan Petty didn’t hold back either in his response to Biden’s statement in a caustic Twitter post. Virtually dripping with scorn, Petty wrote the words saying:
“Don’t use my daughter’s death to advance your political agenda. Because of your politicized FBI, failed Obama era school discipline policies and a Sheriff that cared more about his image in the community than enforcing the law, a maniac was allowed to attack a school. Try learning what really happened.”

Democrats will continue choking on the truth if they want to go down this path. As it’s almost become customary for Biden to use the Parkland shootings to further his political objectives, and for Petty to hit back.
Many well-documented shortcomings accompanied the Parkland tragedy, which claimed the lives of 14 students and three school employees.
Nikolas Cruz, the shooter, could have and should have been enrolled in an alternative high school for adolescents with special needs but was not— long before the shooting.

I’m sorry he is using her death that way, to insist on an ‘assault weapons’ ban yet again.

Thank you for standing up for what is right. I am terribly sorry for your loss.

I wish these vulnerable children were actually protected. The deputy that was on scene (that was somehow special enough to be able to carry while other adults were not) was unfortunately a coward.

In order to prevent the “school-to-prison pipeline,” the Broward County School District’s procedures for student punishment, which were inspired by suggestions made by the Barack Obama White House, place a focus on avoiding contacting law enforcement in cases of criminal behavior.
Scott Israel, the sheriff of Broward County, had actually bragged about it during his reelection campaign in 2016 at the time of the Parkland shooting. Although the Broward School District initially denied it, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, it was an approach that helped Cruz stay in the school despite behavior problems.
As the New York Post reported last year, the Justice Department didn’t admit fault, it just agreed to pay $127.5 million to the families of victims. (To those who aren’t Justice Department lawyers, that seems like 127 million admissions of guilt.) As the bureau ignored warnings that had gone to the FBI — and could have potentially averted the shooting.
As marked by cowardice displayed by the deputy assigned to the campus and delays by more deputies in confronting the killer, the response of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office on the day of the shooting was a disaster.
This appears to be a defense of the Broward School District being governed by politically correct officials who are more concerned with statistics that make their schools look good than with genuine kid safety, at least to reasonable Americans.
It appears to be more proof that the FBI is incompetent in sectors where it is not corrupted by politics. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office, at least under its then-sheriff, was a law enforcement failure. Yet, Democrats would argue that such conclusions are too clear. They want the people of the United States to learn from Parkland that it is necessary to carry on violating the Second Amendment rights that are guaranteed to all citizens.
And for Ryan Petty, who had plenty of social media support, he simply wasn’t buying it.
Leftists will always believe that restricting the right to bear weapons will protect Americans from “gun violence,” despite the fact that “gun free zone” statistics and the bloody streets of Democrat-run cities show that this is illogical. More than a few liberals apparently felt compelled to jump on Petty’s Twitter thread to lecture him about how gun control is what’s really important.
To Biden, even the anniversary of a tragic incident of violence is just an opportunity to score political points. And to Democrats, any incident of violence is just another reason to push gun control.
As much as the drive for power over their fellow citizens, they aren’t nearly as concerned with logic, the Constitution, or even basic fairness and morality. People like Ryan Petty are there to fight back, which is fortunate for the rational portion of the country.
