COME ON: Now They Are Changing The Lyrics To The Alphabet Song…

Uncategorized

A new spin on an old classic has many saying N-O! The Alphabet Song has been revised in a way that is causing the internet to explode with rage.

The child’s song has been around since the 19th century, and Dream English Kids, a producer of children’s educational songs, decided it was time to update how kids learn their A-B-Cs.

The song, set to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, starts the way we all recognize. But when we get to the ‘L-M-N-O-P’ part, typically sang “elemnopee,’ the song slows, making each letter clear. It doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

Oddly enough, this version was released seven years ago, but comedian and writer Noah Garfunkel recently posted it to Twitter, stirring up a social media storm. His caption reads, “They changed the ABC song to clarify the LMNOP part, and it is life ruining.”

A mother, who happens to be a TikToker was outraged about the change. Jess, a mother of seven, shared the breaking news to her followers that changing the coveted ABC Song had sparked so much controversy.

According to AWM, tens of thousands of people commented on Jess’ TikTok video. With nearly seventy thousand comments to choose from, below are just a few of the comments from people on TikTok about the change to the ABC Song.

“DON’T FIX WHAT’S NOT BROKEN!” reads one comment.

“Old version is way better,” wrote another user.

“I REFUSE to accept this,” said another comment.

“This hurts my brain,” said another comment.

Another viewer commented, “Yeah I’m never telling my kids that. If they EVER sing it that way I’m calling the teacher and having a VERY long talk with them :)”

However, some viewers understood why the change was made. One user explained it very clearly for all to read.

“It’s, so kids don’t say L-M-N-O’ ellemeno,’” one user said, “but that’s how we’ve ALL said it.”

In response to that comment, many viewers claimed that “ellemeno” is a letter and needs to stay part of the ABC song forever. One comment reads, “I try to say ut then realize i don’t know the alphabet WE NEED ELEMENO.”

Another person commented, “but that was the best part lmnop.”
