Sometimes, our hearts reach out to another person and we feel a deep desire to do something kind for them.

And this man’s reaction in our featured story today would fuel further compassion and kindness, making this wonderful story all the more meaningful.

It all began on a busy flight one day. Passenger Jessica Titus spotted an interesting interaction as she was boarding the plane.

The first-class passenger saw the servicewoman board the plane, so he immediately block her way.

“On my flight Tuesday, I walked down the jetway behind a woman in uniform (Army). A man stood up from his 1st class seat and said, ‘Sorry ma’am, I’m in your seat,” Jessica wrote on Facebook.

“What does your ticket say?” the 1st class passenger asked the service woman.

Appearing confused, she replied, “What? No – I’m 31 B.”

Several American airlines do frequently make special exceptions and give special perks to military personnel on their flights, but on this particular day, the service woman was preparing to sit in a middle-row seat in coach.

When Jessica first heard the man’s question, she was also confused. But his intentions soon became very clear.

But instead of checking his ticket again and realizing the confusion, he made a very different move.

“He walked away, leaving her with his first class seat and then took her middle seat in coach.”

Although the man could have just sat there, and maybe thanked the soldier for her service – he wanted to take it a step further. Giving up his seat was his way of showing gratitude to one of our many brave service members.

Jessica was so touched by the man’s kindness to the soldier, that she decided to do something kind for him in return.

She got out a piece of paper and wrote a small note on it. Then Jessica tucked some money into her note and handed it over to the good Samaritan. It said:

“Seat 31 B – Please accept a drink or snack on me. If everyone treated people the way you treated the servicewoman, the world would be a better place.”

The man didn’t end up accepting Jessica’s sweet offer, but it goes to show how much beauty can come from kindness! As Jessica suggests:

“Do good. Recognize good. Make the world better.”

It’s a story that’s warmed hearts across the internet. One Facebook user commented:

“No doubt that she will never forget how you made her feel that day! I never forgot when someone bought me a cup of coffee when I was in the Air Force.. Well done Sir!”

Someone else wrote:

“Well, this made me cry. I needed to hear about the beauty of some folks human spirit. May this become the norm.”
