Few firearm manufacturers have captured the imagination of American Shooters as thoroughly as ArmaLite.

ArmaLite first rose to prominence during the late 1950s, with a series of innovative rifles that looked unlike any produced before. Those first rifles had the designation AR in the model name for the the company that made them: ARMALITE.

ArmaLite was first established as a Division of Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation on October 1, 1954. At least two years of privately funded development preceded the Fairchild supported program. The ArmaLite Division of Fairchild is the first phase of the company’s history and where it built the first AR-10 Rifles.
